born in kobe, master's degree in kyoto, japan, nobuko ema opened her own quilt shop,
maple house ema, in 1990, and was active as a quilt artist.

in 2002 she experienced her first embellisher needle punch machine. through the request of
the manufacturer tanaka & co ltd and the distributor juki co ltd, she began to handle the sales
promotion for embellisher in the united states.

in 2003 she was invited to give a lecture as a special guest fiber artist at the martha pullen quilt
academy in the united states. since then she has held many workshop in canada, australia, and
european countries while establishing her own original needle punching techniques.

since 2004 she has been holding ema nobuko needle punch machine techniques workshop
regularly at the vogue art schools in tokyo, yokohama, nagoya, osaka as well as private
workshops.
